This tutorial will show you how to create this wire dragonfly set onto a card layered with various papers. The greeting can easily be changed to suit your needs.

    Estimated Time:
    45 minutes

    Skill Level:
    Intermediate

Make the body of the dragonfly by threading one bead to a piece of wire. Fold it in half and thread beads two-thirds the way up the piece of wire – The first bead will hold the rest in place.

Split the two pieces of wire and thread four or five beads to each side. Join them together again and add one more bead. Twist the wire together and trim as shown in figure 1.

Bend another piece of wire for the wings and stick to the back of the body.

Figure 1

Cut a piece of the green card to cover most of the blank card.

Cut a rectangle of the pale yellow handmade paper and stick to the bottom-right. (see figure 2.)

Cut a small rectangle of the mottled card and stick a small piece of the tan card to the centre. Add a “Happy Birthday” peel-off.

Stick the dragonfly to the bottom of the card and using sticky foam pads, stick the greeting to the top of the card.
